What Archaeology Says

Most archaeologists date the Sphinx to the reign of Pharaoh Khafre (c. 2530 BC), consistent with its geological context and proximity to his pyramid complex. The erosion patterns cited as evidence of great age are caused by wind and sand, not water. No credible evidence of hidden chambers has been found.
